VALERIE ZIMANY

The American Craft Council recently granted Valerie Zimany a "Searchlight Artist" 2007 award for her whimsical and original porcelain vessels. Her sculptures and wall pieces are informed by her years of studying ceramics in Japan as a Fulbright Scholar and inspired by her interest in organic, natural forms. Her exquisite, delicate porcelains, evoke imagery from the woods and the sea; bamboo shoots, creatures, barnacles and coral reefs and dwell in a place between form and function.
