cross mackenzie ceramic arts is pleased to announce an exhibition of paintings on clay and canvas by artist Tati Kaupp. The exhibition will open September 21st and will remain on view through October 17th.

Kaupp's titles perfectly capture the sense of summer celebration expressed in her painted ceramics and canvases. "The Wedding Series", "Cape May Series" and "Guatemala and Mexico" display Kaupp's joyous sense of color and exuberant painter's palette. One gets glimpses of bubbles rising from champagne glasses, inviting domestic settings and views of street cafes. Images of confetti and dining al fresco blend together in her lively works. The artist was born in Mexico and spent time in the Southwest before moving to Washington. The quality of light has followed her. Kaupp's ceramic pieces are Majolica which gives her a fresh white background for her colorful glazes. She paints images of vessels on her paintings, ceramic vessels and ceramic wall panels Ð our job is to imagine what celebration we are toasting.
